Hawaii Children's Discovery Center

Anyone who has spent any time around young children know how much they love to play and discover new things. Hawaii has a place for helping young minds explore while having fun. It is the Hawaii Children's Discovery Center located at 111 Ohe St. in Honolulu. The center has several different rooms that not only allow children to play, but they also learn. Matthew's favorite seems to be Your Town, where there's a grocery store, post office, police station, theater, train, fire station and much more. Our visit yesterday was in celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Is there anyone who doesn't love Dr. Seuss? My favorite book is Oh the Places You Go. I didn't read this until I was adult and in the waiting place, and I felt like I was reading a book written just for me. I aspire to be a writer like Dr. Seuss, but I know only 98 3/4% of the time I will succeed. Matthew loves the Cat in the Hat because Matthew loves mischief. It's amazing that a 3 year old can have such a sense of humor. He wants to be funny all the time, and he is good at it. This worries me, though. I hope I am not going to have a class clown on my hands. Sorry I went off on a tangent, but I really do love Dr. Seuss. The discovery center had special activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. There were crafts and cupcake decorating. We only took part in one craft because it was so crowded. I suggest that if you want to get the full experience of this fun place you don't go when there is a special event. Pick a random day and head there. They do offer military and kamaaina rates of $8 per person over 1 years of age. They are only open from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., so this is a morning activity. If it's a sunny day, you can do what we did and have a picnic in Kakaako Waterfront Park. We brought our lunch and threw out a blanket under a tree. Our view was amazing blue water. Overall it was a wonderful morning of exploring, learning, and having fun!

  1. There are many romantic restaurants in Hawaii. Some of the restaurants with great food and atmosphere include Sarento’s atop the Ilikai Hotel. Not only is the service top-notch and the food excellent, but you can’t beat the view of Waikiki and Diamond Head.
